The goal of this three week workshop is to have participants enter into Lent centered in the possibilities of freedom in the Spirit. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” 2 Corinthians 3:17 This workshop is led by Bill Tipping.

Week 1. Unpacking for the Journey

Let’s get rid of the excess baggage attributed to terms such as sin, heaven, hell, born again, repentance and salvation. Let’s take advantage of our collective insights and free ourselves from the challenges imposed by the cultural usurpation of these historical biblical terms.

Week 2. Taking a Transparent Inventory

“God loves and celebrates my awesomeness - Facebook tells me so.” Let’s explore the possibilities of the true and better self, the inadequacy of the status quo, and transformation towards unlimited freedom in spirit, uncaged from our own plans or imagination. “For now we see only a reflection in the mirror, then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12.

Week 3. How does freedom come from being attached to the Vine?

Let’s look candidly at what Jesus does to a rule following/good works based relationship with God ? Convention is thrown upside down, and soul is emphasized more than self. What are our expectations and perceived risks regarding transformation, trust, and giving up control? Where is the freedom in that ?

Every year, the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless hosts Homeless Day on the Hill at the State Capitol. Hundreds of community members convene for a day of advocacy, meetings with lawmakers, committee hearings, stories of impact and more. This year, MCH will host a three-day online event and will organize lawmaker visits virtually. Homeless Day on the Hill is a free event. MCH will attempt to schedule visits with lawmakers based on legislative districts. Register by end-of-day on Sunday, February 20th, 2021, to ensure we have time to schedule a visit. Legislative visits are subject to lawmaker availability.
