Advent & Christmas 2024

In Sure and Certain Hope

We live in sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life.

Our liturgical year begins with Advent, and we follow the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus in a linear way each calendar year, but the early Christian Church celebrated the festival of Easter centuries before they celebrated Christmas. We view all of the liturgical seasons through the lens of Easter, knowing the promise that is to come. And so during Advent we wait, not in anxious despair but in sure and certain hope, for the Christ Child.

This Advent season we are dwelling in this deep hope—trusting in the certainty of God’s promise even as we live through uncertain times, looking for moments of rejoicing in the world around us, and seeing the ordinary become extraordinary.

    Accessibility Information:

You are welcome to sit wherever you are comfortable; there is a reserved area for those with disabilities that is open enough to accommodate mobility devices. The balconies are best for those with sound sensitivities (although they are not wheelchair accessible).

Because we have microphones, if you have trouble hearing, it is better to sit in the middle of the Sanctuary, rather than directly in front of the pulpit or lectern.

There is an elevator once you pass through Carlson Hall that provides access to the Sanctuary Level from the East Entry. Otherwise, you can enter directly to the Sanctuary level from the West side of the building on Hennepin/Lyndale Avenue.

Accessible bathrooms are located off Carlson Hall in the Education Wing.

We do not have readers, sound cancelation headphones, blinders, etc. on hand so please remember to bring additional comfort devices that you might need with you.

Please feel free to approach our receptionists or any of the ushers if you have any questions or concerns.
