Artist Statement:
My process is a balance between chaos and calm. I paint intuitively, working quickly at first and slowly becoming organized and intentional. I am intrigued by the play of color and space, layered with lines that tangle throughout, creating movement that is both bold and delicate. The series “My Roots Run Deep” is inspired by a recent move to Minneapolis. As we get settled into a new city, I find myself reflecting on who I am, where I come from, how I was raised…my roots. The paintings and titles tell a story that invites you to share in my experience of looking back at the stories that shaped each of us.
