This past Sunday, Rev. Dr. Christie Neuger and Rev. Dr. Joretta Marshall, both esteemed retired United Methodist ministers, delivered an insightful session on the significance of pastoral care and hospitality within the church to 50+ members of our congregation. With decades of experience as professors, pastors, chaplains, counselors, and consultants, they shared valuable strategies for nurturing a caring and attentive church community.
During the session, Rev. Dr. Neuger and Rev. Dr. Marshall emphasized the importance of embodying a caring attitude and presence. They discussed effective listening and questioning techniques, and highlighted the crucial role of the church in reflecting on and embodying theological principles. Practical steps for establishing and supporting lay caregiving programs were also outlined, offering attendees actionable insights to enhance their congregational care efforts.
For those who missed this enriching session, a recording is available to ensure everyone can benefit from the wisdom shared by Rev. Dr. Neuger and Rev. Dr. Marshall.
We are pleased to invite you to our next session this upcoming Sunday at 11:15am, taking place in the Art Gallery and also available via Zoom. This session will continue to explore themes of pastoral care and community support, providing further opportunities for learning and growth.
