Celebration of Life for Howard Bergstrom

Bergstrom, Howard E. Age 100. Born Feb. 4, 1924, in St. Cloud, MN. Died Nov. 19, 2024, at home in Minneapolis. Howard attended St. Cloud public schools, served in the U.S. Navy, and earned several academic degrees, culminating in a PhD in Education from the University of Minnesota. His long tenure in administration for the Minnesota Community College system was followed by decades as an active volunteer in his communities in St. Anthony Park (St. Paul) and Becketwood Cooperative (Minneapolis). He also served countless hours as a hospice volunteer at the Minnesota Veterans Home and on committees and performing outreach for his church. Howard loved fishing and boating, travel, music, and woodworking. Preceded in death by parents, August and Lillian (Burwick) Bergstrom, and brother, Willard. Survived by beloved family: wife of 66 years, Jane (Johnstone) Bergstrom; son, John; daughter, Martha (Paul) Brennecke; and granddaughter, Nina. Many thanks to caring staff at Walker Place in Minneapolis and Park Nicollet Hospice. Interment at Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis; a memorial service is being planned.
