Weekly Class for Adult Faith Formation
How can we understand and practice returning our bodies to the web of life, even in death? How have Christians practiced care for dead bodies over the centuries? Can grief in life’s loss connect with hope for creation? How do green burials expand our practices? The first 3 weeks of the fall we will explore Corpse Care: Ethics for Tending the Dead, by Cody J. Sanders and Mikeal C. Parsons (Fortress: 2023). Starting in October, the group will offer one of the “All Church” LYFE groups (Life After Doom), and then turn to an Advent study, similarly themed on re-imagining our human relationship with God and Creation.
What ties these all together? Human living and dying within the web of life and expansive love of God. By participating in this class, we will move toward a more earthly hope, with divine trust for the matter-ing of our lives and future generations. Books available through the church, and for more info email Nancy Victorin-Vangerud ([email protected]).
