Yoga at Hennepin

Event Series Event Series (See All)

September 26, 2026 @ 11:00am 12:00pm

Weekly on Saturdays, 11am-12pm, in the Church of Youth and sometimes in the Art Gallery

Practice yoga with your neighbors in a supportive environment! Deepen your physical and mental wellness with certified teacher Leslie Ball, whose restorative program is beneficial for both beginners and experienced yogis.
Our students range from teenagers to 90 years old. You do NOT need any prior experience; we welcome newcomers! Bring your own mat, or borrow one of our gently used mats for class. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. (No need for yoga fashion; many of us wear sweatpants, scrubs, even pajamas… whatever works.) Your first class is free of charge, and subsequent classes ask for a free-will donation. Yoga starts at 11am, so please arrive between 10:45-10:55. We wrap up a little after noon.

About the Instructor

Leslie Ball has been imparting knowledge for over a dozen years in various settings, including the University of Minnesota, the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit, libraries, churches, and community centers across the Twin Cities. Hosting yoga/mindfulness retreats for both large and small groups, Leslie has been offering classes via Zoom in real time since 2020. During the summer months, the option of in-person outdoor Friday Garden Yoga (weather permitting) in the beautiful Lowry Gardens (near Lake of the Isles) became available. Private lessons are also offered.

Certified in Vinyasa, Hot, and Yin formats, Leslie received training at Corepower Yoga in Minneapolis and the Kripalu Center in Massachusetts. Additionally, Leslie is a licensed practitioner of LifeForce Yoga, utilizing yoga to address trauma, depression, and anxiety. With twelve years of experience, Leslie leads Open Yoga, a restorative yoga program that integrates spirituality and recovery into a holistic practice. The foundation of Open Yoga stems from Leslie’s training at United Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity) and New York University (Master of Fine Arts), coupled with decades of grateful recovery in the 12-step community. Leslie expresses eternal gratitude to the immediate teachers – the students in Open Yoga classes.

Background

Years ago we offered regular in-person yoga classes here until the pandemic moved us to an online format. Per many requests, we’re going to return to our weekly Saturday morning practice.

For any inquiries, Leslie welcomes questions and encourages reaching out via email at [email protected].
