The World We Have

In class this past week, we opened with a prayer from Social Gospel theologian Walter Rauschenbusch and again invited persons to share reflections from contemplative time spent in/with nature (e.g. sit spot). We focused our discussion around Chapter 2 of Larry’s Rasmussen’s Earth Honoring Faith, “The World We Have,” highlighting concepts from systems theory and earth-systems sciences, like wicked problems, problems vs. predicaments, Anthropocene, and Eaarth, as part of our ongoing reckoning with 1) how we arrived at, and 2) what it means to live in a climate changed world. We closed with this benediction from Bishop Woodie White.
