Hope for Creation IACCW – Week Eight Summary

Dr. Mark Seeley

In class this past Sunday, we hosted area meteorologist, climatologist, and United Methodist layperson Dr. Mark Seeley, who shared about the impacts and implications of climate change in our bioregion. Dr. Seeley addressed the evidence of climate change in the local area (e.g. an increase in the intensity of both warming and precipitation rates), consequences (e.g. a spike in heavy weather events, a change in the survival rates of pests, pathogens, parasites, and microbes), needed responses (e.g. learn about the University of Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership), and faith perspectives (e.g. John Wesley’s scientific interest in and concern for the natural world).
