Holy Week Round up 2024

We are so pleased to be able to share our photos of all of Holy Week 2024! It was Sally and Elizabeth’s first here at HAUMC and marked an increase in attendance and a wide variety of worship opportunities to engage with the sacred joy and sorrow of the passion.

Palm Sunday March 24 2024

Each moment of holy week and the story of Jesus becoming Christ deserves its own spotlight. While the the cross is foreshadowed, for Palm Sunday we remember how it was Jesus entered the gates of Jerusalem. With fanfare and triumph. We gathered for worship to give voice to our own deeply felt desire for social and religious systems advocating justice for all. It was so gratifying to have over 182 in person and 82 onlline in attendance !

Maundy Thursday March 28 2024

Maundy Thursday highlights the transition from the joy of Palm Sunday, gravitas the last supper that Jesus had with his companions. that was an intimate gathering in the art gallery, filmed so it could be released as a video afterward while we work on upping our streaming capabilities. With music and communion, it offered different paths to prayer from building a mosaic, to lighting candles, being anointed with oil, writing a message, walking a labyrinth, or simply contemplating silently. It was a deeply resonant service, mixing communal and individual thoughts. There were about 55 people in attendance.

Good Friday March 29 2024

Good Friday was filled with music, with Sally as cantor, singing a haunting solo from the balcony. Music led the way to engage with the emotions of Good Friday when Jesus died on the cross. As in our tradition, the 75 or so congregants left the bare sanctuary in the dark, following worship.

Easter Sunday 9 and 11 am

Christ is risen! And time to celebrate new life and the resurrection! 9am we had a double baptism, and at 11am Mayme, was introduced to the children with a celebratory children’s time. There was great music, Copper Street Brass, and the Hallelujah chorus led by the choir but with full congregational participation. Each service saw around 300 attendees in person!
