For the last month and half we have been working with Emma Norton Services to share about their mission and the many ways that their campaign for Restoring Waters will positively impact women, individuals, and small families in our community.
Not only are we at Hennepin excited to partner in this mission, but so is Bishop Lanette Plambeck! Here we share a video and letter our bishop has written supporting Emma Norton and Restoring Waters.
“My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.” –Isaiah 32:18
Greetings, friends.
As we turn the page to 2024, I thank God for you and the many ways you serve as a beacon of light and hope in your community and beyond. It is a privilege and an honor to serve as your bishop.
I want to extend an invitation for you to join me in supporting a remarkable endeavor: Emma Norton’s Home + Healing Campaign for Restoring Waters. Restoring Waters is a development in St. Paul that’s set to open this spring. It will provide stability, healing, and trauma-informed care for more than 60 women, individuals, and small families who have experienced homelessness.
Emma Norton Services is a national mission institute of United Women in Faith. As you might know, this nonprofit has been serving women and families for over a century thanks to the gift and vision of Emma Norton, a philanthropist and United Methodist from Winona. This organization is committed to providing transformative housing and growth opportunities for women and families in their journey toward recovery. Emma Norton has been a steadfast partner to the United Methodist faith community in and beyond Minnesota, and it has embarked on an inspiring journey toward justice and equity through the Restoring Waters housing development and service model.
To learn more about this impactful project, visit the Restoring Waters section of Emma Norton’s website and review the detailed campaign document.
Thanks to the generosity of our faith community and other foundation and philanthropic supporters, Emma Norton has made significant progress, having raised over $2.7 million during the quiet phase of the campaign. Now, the organization has just over $1 million left to raise by the end of 2024, and I believe this milestone can be achieved with our help. I encourage you to prayerfully consider ways you and/or your congregation can participate.
Every dollar contributed to the campaign directly impacts the lives of individuals and families. Your support truly does make a tangible difference.
Thank you for considering the invitation to join me in this noble cause. Your partnership will create a lasting impact, serve women and families for generations to come, and create new models of trauma-informed care to serve the broader community.
With gratitude,
Bishop Lanette Plambeck
