Last year a group of devoted Hennepin members envisioned the return of brunch after worship. Led by Kristy Barnes, Bryan Carter, Lynne Carroll and Marla Tipping, that idea became a reality.
In the beginning, there was a small charge for brunch. Then God worked in amazing ways and a generous anonymous donor came forward to fully fund the coffee and brunch ministries for the entire year.
Grateful.
It started small. Then it grew. Lynne and Marla followed Kristy’s lead and sat for food safety certification (they passed!)
Powerful.
It grew to include 35 volunteers – adults, funny young adults, families, youth and those new to Hennepin who were looking for connection.
Inspiring.
Most Sundays from September through the end of April, a group of willing sous chefs, egg makers and dishwashers gathered in our commercial kitchen to bring food, fellowship and fun to the table and to serve what has grown to be 75-100 people each week.
Think “The Bear” without the angst and family drama. Think more like the British Baking Show without the flan.
Joy
Above all, the congregation GATHERED. After worship. To visit. To share. To do a LYFE group. To laugh. To be intergenerational community. To do a talent show! We are back together and we are welcoming all to join together for some soul and physical food.
Nourishing.
Thank you for coming down to eat together and share your lives with one another.
And of course if you feel called to service in this ministry, we would love to have you join us in the fall. Reach out to Marla at [email protected], Kristy at [email protected] or Bryan at [email protected]
