“You can’t know where you are going until you know where you have been.” -Maya Angelou.
We invite you on a journey of discovery…into the past! 149 years ago this month, some members of one Methodist congregation decided to leave and form a new church: Hennepin Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church. We are going to spend the next year sharing the story of that new congregation: Our Story. Archival displays, building tours (including our previous church building), fine art displays, music programs, a dedicated webpage, documentary videos and a new book will help explain “where we’ve been”.
The archival display in Carlson Hall will cover six topics: Worship, Ministers, Education, Art and Music, Mission and Outreach, and Beloved Members. In January, we will display the larger items of historical interest throughout Carlson Hall. Please join us in learning more about Hennepin’s story and the people who have made her a special place to worship.
