A bill, HF 12, which seeks to ban transgender youth from participating in sports, is moving to the floor of the Minnesota House on Monday, March 3.
As a church committed to justice and full inclusion, we know that debates like these are not just political—they are deeply personal and profoundly spiritual. When our LGBTQ+ siblings are targeted for exclusion, we are called to respond with love and solidarity.
Let’s send a clear message: Minnesotans believe in dignity, belonging, and justice for all.
A rally will take place at the Capitol Rotunda on Monday, March 3, at 2pm in support of trans youth. Rev. Elizabeth Macaulay, Lead Pastor of Hennepin Avenue UMC, has been invited by OutFront Minnesota to lead a prayer at 2:30pm, affirming the inherent worth of all children and calling for a future where every young person is safe and supported.
In addition to attending, Outfront MN encourages community members to contact their representatives and urge them to vote NO on HF 12: https://secure.everyaction.com/2W5CePxD-kqOo2GHGnvhrw2.
As OutFront Minnesota reminds us, “even when harmful bills will not become law, discussions around them can amplify harm to vulnerable members of our communities.” In this moment, let us remain rooted in care, resilience, and justice—moving forward together.
