While working on a long-term project to catalog everything in the Archives Room, Margaret Osborne and Carol Southward came upon two historical treasures. One was a tattered old U.S. flag with 48 stars, and a note indicating it was the first flag flown at this church building, in the spring of 1917! The other is a Blue Star Service banner from World War II, which has a star for every church member who served in the armed services during the War. The star was changed to gold for those who had died in service.
It is moving to see these tangible mementos from our church history. We are working to document them and carefully preserve them in the Archives. We look forward to sharing more of these treasures as we celebrate the 150th anniversary year, starting this Fall!
