I am deeply grateful to Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church for the incredible gift of renewal leave this summer. From June 2 to August 31, I will step away from the day-to-day demands of ministry to focus on rest, spiritual renewal, professional growth, and relationship care. This time away is a meaningful investment in sustaining a vibrant and balanced ministry for years to come, and I am thankful for the congregation’s support in making this possible.
As part of my renewal leave, I plan to engage in opportunities for professional growth that will enhance my work as a preacher and pastor. I look forward to expanding my skills in the areas of preaching and pastoral care. Additionally, I will explore spiritual practices like contemplative prayer and gratitude journaling, which I hope to integrate into my ministry upon my return.
Another important focus will be nurturing relationships with loved ones. Andrew and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary during this time, a milestone I look forward to cherishing together. I’ll also spend intentional time reconnecting with family and close friends, creating space for renewal and reflection through these meaningful relationships.
This leave also offers time for rest and exploration. From engaging in hobbies like crocheting and cooking to trying new experiences like rock climbing, I hope to recharge both physically and mentally. I will also spend time in nature, including a trip to Duluth and a retreat at Lake Osakis, to create moments of quiet reflection and spiritual connection.
I am so thankful for all the ways that this congregation has supported me so far and I welcome your prayers while I am away on renewal leave.
With gratitude,
Pastor Laura
