I WAS GLAD! Four Centuries of English Coronation Music Concert

May 6, 2023 @ 7:30pm 8:30pm

The Mirandola Ensemble is thrilled to present a historic “I WAS GLAD! Four Centuries of English Music” performance on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

This performance is scheduled for the exact day of the coronation of King Charles III. Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church has been chosen as the venue for this concert specifically because the church was designed in the Gothic Revival style, evocative of the site of all British Coronations since 1066, Westminster Abbey.

Conductor Matthew Mehaffey will lead the Mirandola Ensemble, an auditioned choir of 45 voices, Cathedral of St. Paul organist Chris Ganza, and the University of Minnesota School of Music Brass Ensemble in a program of music that has been carefully selected from the last four centuries of English coronations to capture the pomp and circumstance of the present moment.
Tickets: $30 general admission at the door (or $25 via online presale)
