It is the intention of Bishop Lanette Plambeck to appoint Pastor Christy Key as executive pastor of Hennepin Avenue UMC. Acting on behalf of the congregation, the Governance Board has affirmed the Bishop’s intention. Pastor Key’s first day of appointment at Hennepin will be September 1, and her first Sunday with us will be September 7.

As Executive Pastor, Christy will assume some of the day-to-day management responsibilities of church staff and operations that will allow Pastor Elizabeth to more fully devote her time to the visioning and leadership of Hennepin.

We are excited to see her bring her gifts to Hennepin. She is currently serving as pastor of two congregations: Aldersgate UMC and Bethel UMC. In these appointments, she has demonstrated creative leadership and a love of being in community with her church members and staff. Her professional and lived experiences before becoming a pastor have contributed to her pastoral work and will bless our staff and congregation.

Each church member’s supportive prayers and acts of kindness during the transition period will be greatly appreciated by all of the involved persons.
