Hennepin Church is excited to announce that Jim Wallis will be discussing his new bestselling book “The False White Gospel: Rejecting Christian Nationalism, Reclaiming True Faith, and Refounding Democracy” on Tuesday, June 11 at 7pm at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church.
After the discussion and Q&A, Jim will be signing copies of his book. If you have already purchased a copy of his book, please feel free to bring it to be signed.
Jim Wallis is the inaugural holder of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Chair in Faith and Justice at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy, and the Director of its new Center on Faith and Justice. He is the author of multiple New York Times bestselling books and the founder of Sojourners.
In his new book, he argues that the answer to bad religion is true faith that will help refound democracy. He turns our attention to six iconic texts at the heart of what genuine biblical faith means and what Jesus, in the gospels, has called us to do. It is time to ask anew: do we believe these teachings or not?
This event isn’t only for Christians but for all faith traditions, and even those with no faith at all. Please invite your friends who might be interested in hearing Jim Wallis.
The event is co-sponsored by Christians Against Christian Nationalism Minnesota. It was started in January 2024 to improve communications and coordinate among concerned Minnesota Christians who recognize Christian Nationalism is a threat to both Democracy and Christianity.
